Who Qualifies For A Bursary Or Student Loan From NSFAS?



The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has formally opened the 2025 application system.

Applications are actually open and can shut on fifteen December 2024.

*** Who qualifies for NSFAS funding

To qualify for NSFAS funding, an applicant will have to fulfill the subsequent requirements:

• Be considered a South African citizen or copyright who originates from a home with a combined gross household income that doesn't exceed R350 000 for every annum.

• People with disabilities qualify if their combined family revenue will not exceed R600 000 per annum.

• SASSA recipients immediately qualify for funding and need not submit any evidence of income.

*** Loan Scheme for the Missing Middle

The NSFAS Loan Scheme for the missing middle is open to all South African citizens and permanent citizens from households with combined R350 000 and R600 000 per annum.

Applicants are reminded to offer the right Identity Doc numbers, names, and surname, as mirrored within their South African ID.

NSFAS only funds individuals who are studying or plan to study in a general public university or TVET college in South Africa.

All students who wish to study in any of the public universities my nsfas and TVET colleges should apply timeously and not to wait until the last day.

Learners do not have to wait for matric results to apply for NSFAS. They should apply now and avoid delays in the processing of their application.
